Being an avid car crafter myself, I have enjoyed the many exciting advantages of this powerful engine. I think that the small block Chevy is an engineering masterpiece and a wonderful addition to the advancement of technology in the automotive field. .
             The small block Chevy has a deep history that not a lot of people know about. Its introduction was a reaction to the heavy metal cars of the mid-fifties. The engine can appreciate some of its success to such a simple yet effective design. The small block Chevy is a V8, or an eight-cylinder engine that uses a 90-degree V configuration. The small block can thank Alexander Duntov for some of its great attributes because Mr. Duntov was the pioneer in V8 technology at that time. He knew all the basic mechanical technology of internal combustion engines, which would help him, develop one of the most sought after small block V8 engines of all time. The very first small block debuted in 1955, which was a 265 cubic inch displacement engine. It was the numerous hours of studying and researching that brought Chevy to debut the 265. It was an instant success for Chevy as they brought to life a new generation of engines. (Vizard p.23).
             Chevy has had great success with the small block all the way up to present day. Chevy has enjoyed many years of use in their vehicles with this engine due to its popularity and design. The small block Chevy has evolved over the years to accommodate technology and new metallurgy tactics.
