Gay Marriage

Marriage is the legal union of a man and a woman as husband and wife. A union such as this is a sacred bond between two people who love one another. It is a commitment that when promised should not be betrayed or broken. The allusion of a man proposing to his love on bended knee so they could be together for eternity is a dream of many girls everywhere. When love is declared it should be true and pure, and able to bend to the bumps that may come along. The groom is standing at the altar, his palms are sweaty with nerves, he turns and smiles at his best man as the church doors open and the love of his life walks through, and he lays eyes on another man wearing a tuxedo- his future husband. This picture may be skewed to some, but gay marriage is becoming more acceptable and common in society today. Homosexuals have the ability to declare their love for one another through a Commencement Ceremony, but this is not a legal bond with the state of California. Gays feel that they too deserve the right to be seen as legally married by law, but others feel differently. Homosexuals should not be able to legally marry in the state of California.
All throughout history homosexuals have not been allowed to marry. Marriage has been accepted universally as a union between a man and a woman, why should the government break the last remaining bond between a man and a woman? Homosexuals have the ability to adopt or have children, but the right to marry should remain sacred between those of the heterosexual orientation. The public has become increasingly more accepting of the gay and lesbian lifestyle. The public meaning of marriage is not something that each new generation can redefine. Marriage is defined by the government and those who believe in God feel that he too defines marriage, and what the world as we know it accepts this union to be. Through marriage our culture protects monogamy, gives a way for females and males to create a life together, and for the sake of the children guarantees each child a mother and a father.
