Movie glory based on the civil war

 

            
             The movie "Glory" portrayed many real aspects of the civil war. It showed the harsh reality that the men who fought in the war had to undergo. It depicted the brutal man to man combat that was used during the Civil war and how barbaric it was. It was a great historical reference and is very accurate.
             In the movie, it showed a developing regiment of freed black men fighting for their country. Many people were not quite sure wither or not there should be a black regiment for the north. They were quite skeptical of their abilities and if they could handle man to man combat. Others, including Fredrick Douglas, thought that it was necessary to have a black regiment. It was add more fighting men and would help win the war. .
             During the war, the solders in the 54th Regiment had to deal with many hardships. Not only were they fighting in a war, they had to deal with discrimination among fellow solders who were white and not colored. In one scene of the movie, it shows a fight that broke out against a colored solder and a white solder. It isn't fair because both men were fighting equally hard for their country. The 54th regiment also had to deal with inadequate pay. Since they were "colored", they were not allowed the same salary as the other solders. Also, they had to fight in order to get supplies. They couldn't even get a simple pair of shoes. They had to fight for everything they got, but what they got, the men most definitely earned. .
             The men who signed up to fight for the Massachusetts Regiment said they were fighting for their country, but it really makes yew wonder if they were fighting for the north or fighting in revenge of the white southerners who enslaved them for so many years. They were oppressed for so long, once they are free, and epically given guns and told to "AIM FIRE", it makes you think if they really were just in it for the kill. .
             For military training, it is extremely important to be stern and hard with your men.
