Patton

When you think of the word hero, what do you think of? Well my definition and your definition may not be exact or even close at all. My definition of a hero is a person who can save a life or many lives jus by thinking smart and using correct judgment skills. George Patton was a great example of this because he was a military genius! In a Weird and odd sort of way Patton saved many, many lives by killing a lot of soldiers. Patton used soldiers to fight his ingenious battles and many were fought in triumph and some were lost in defeat. I see Patton as a person who saved lives because he saved the people of the United States. That might sound a little off but if you let me explain it to you it will make more sense. If it wasn't for Patton's ingenious tank warfare skills and planning capabilities we would have lost the war to Hitler and his army. Hitler's main goal was to some day take over the world and have an all "perfect race". Patton stopped Hitler's destruction of the Jewish people and from becoming all powerful. If Hitler would have taken over the world many of the people in the U.S. back in the 40's would have been slaughtered. Many would say that "George Patton had ingenious planning and judgment skills and he was a genius in tank warfare" (Pogue 540) and I would have to say they are right. George Patton was one of the greatest tank commanders of his time and is still remembered for it today. Patton implemented one of President Eisenhower's plans during WWII and that one plan saved thousand of troop's lives and millions of dollars. This plan was used before the landing on the beaches of Normandy. What this did was trick the Germans into believing that there was an entire army on one side of this beach. This made the Germans stack more troops on that side and we invaded on the opposite side. The plan used rubber blow up tanks, trucks and men that looked real and it worked! "George Patton was bumped down to the 15th army because of a statement he said to the press.
