Beowulf - a hero?

One of the worlds, and especially Christianity's, most important work is the poem of Beowulf, which is believed to originate from the 800th century's Anglo-Saxon England, which is the date that most scholars and experts do agree on, however one must keep in mind that there are no certain proofs that this date may be the correct one.
This work has been a great mystery ever since it surfaced in the hands of a man named Laurence Nowell in the 1600th century. No one knows really where the manuscript was before that. .
             Summary.
The manuscript follows the life of the great Geat warrior Beowulf and his great adventures, which includes fighting monsters and slaying a dragon. After being asked for help by the Danish king Hrothgar to defeat a terrible monster named Grendel, Beowulf decides to depart for Denmark with fourteen followers to rescue the Danes from this monster and descendant of the Biblical character Cain from the book of Genesis, which clearly shows the Christian aspects and influences in the manuscript, even if it is in a frightening example . The manuscript then continues the usage of Biblical scripture, suggesting that Grendel was the descendant of Cain and therefore directly connected to "the Root of Evil- as the manuscript puts it. .
The Danes are overwhelmed by the arrival of Beowulf, whom they hope to be their savior, and they enjoy a great party in honor of Beowulf and his brave men in the king's great hall, Herot. But during the festivities, Grendel sneaks up to Herot, and patiently waits for his moment to attack them. When darkness has fallen upon the landscape, Grendel attacks them during their sleep, but Beowulf does not get involved in the beginning, instead he is watching the battle and trying to find Grendel's weaknesses. After a moment, he grabs Grendel's arm.
Not only does he kill Grendel (and his mother later on), but he also does it in a honorable way; he decides to defeat him without using any kind of weapons since he sees that Grendel is not using any weapons during his attack in Herot, but it still would not have helped Beowulf to use weapons since Grendel had put an enchantment on all of their weapons, which Beowulf later on finds out.
