Canadian Personal freedom

 

This starts off in the morning when they bark and tell me to get out of bed to take them outside. But the barking can also be in the middle of the night where I have to get out of my warm bed to take them out when it's minus forty outside. Then having to watch them eat to make sure the Jack Russell doesn't steal the Bichon's food. With this done now, I am able to start off my own day. This routine goes on through the day where I have to feed them again in the evening and take them outside three more times. It's like having children, where I can never go out for more then a few hours or go on a holiday unless I find someone to look after them. My freedom is voluntarily affected by the dogs because they are my kids and I usually don't mind putting their needs above my own.
             I own a car and I really like to drive it. I consider myself to be a safe driver and I generally follow the speed limits. When I was younger I was playing hockey and I broke my collar bone. I do not like wearing a seat belt because it is really uncomfortable. The law says that I must wear a seat belt. I understand the reasoning behind wearing a seat belt and I do not refute that seat belts can save lives. My problem is that I feel I know the risks involved when I do not wear a seat belt and I would choose not to wear it. I am over the age of 18 and I can make an informed decision on who I want to elect when I vote. When I make an informed decision to not wear a seat belt, I am going against the law in Alberta. The fines for not wearing a seat belt has risen numerous times and it would be a very expensive for me to get caught acting out my free choice. I want to be a lawful citizen and have to realize that when it comes to wearing seat belts it is something that I must do, regardless of what I really want to do. .
             Following the same theme there is another aspect of being a car owner that I .
             do not have any freedom over.
