Islam, religion or terrorism?

Recently, within the last year we have had a very sad, and tragic terrorist attack. All of us were very terrified and confused on why all this was going on. No one knew whom to blame, or what to do, everyone just tried to cope with it the best they could. September 11th 2001, was the most tragic incident the United States has seen since Pearl Harbor. But for some reason before anyone was sure who did it or who was behind the terrorist attack everyone said that it was Muslim terrorism. But the fact is, Islam in no way permits, promotes, or approves any form of terrorism. Many people think of terrorist when they think of the religion of Islam. But no one should judge something before they know what it is. .
The religion of Islam consists of five basic guide lines that the Islamic people live by. The first of the five pillars is called, the profession of faith. This means that there is no God but Allah (just another name for god) and Muhamed is his prophet. The second pillar of Islam is worship. Muslims are supposed to pray 5 times daily at dawn, midday, afternoon, evening, and night. The third pillar of Islam is called fasting. Fasting is done in the month of Ramadan, this is supposed to be the holiest month of the year. This is believed because God first revealed the Quaran (holy book) to Muhamed this month. The month of Ramadan comes 11 days earlier every year because muslims go by the lunar calendar. The fourth pillar of Islam is called almsgiving. Muslims are required to give 2.5% of their earnings to the poor or sick. It is not required but it is expected of all muslims. The fifth and the last pillar of Islam is called hajj. This is a trip that every muslim is required to make at least once in his or her life. This trip is to Mecca, known to be the holiest city in the world to muslims. They are only required to make this trip if they can physically and financially do so.
