Their main role was to do chores around the house, taking care of the children, or helping their husbands with the farming. Women only had the opportunity for education if they were born into a rich family, it wasn't questioned and it was socially accepted. Although now in the early 2000's women are still expected to take care of the children, and do the chores around the house, as they have throughout life, today women have equal opportunities available to them; they have a choice of having a career and or being a mother. Instead of not being able to go to school they are expected to attend school. Because of their education they have more choices, however, some people still believe that women are inferior to men just as they were in the 1870's. Women still tend to be physically weaker, and very emotional therefore causing them to have less stability. Females today are however, making their name known in the public and taking charge of their own lives.
Equality for men, women, and race are very important issues. We are now taught that every man has the right to be different, every man is his own person, and every man is "a simple separate person." Every person has his or her own beliefs, faiths, and ideas because of their thought process due to the individual's level of education. They may choose to agree or not agree with someone else based on their education. Today people can have more of their own individual thoughts and ideas. They are able to do so because of there being more education, therefore making every person more of an individual. Everyone is born different, some being more physical, mental, or social than others. Environment, education, and upbringing play a big role in a person's life. It makes them who they are. One person's weakness could be someone else's strength, or someone's good news could be another person's bad news. All men in the 1870's did pretty much the same thing, they were still their own person but they were all in the same rough and hard environment.
