             A place where the land, water, and sky embrace like old friends. This is a land old as time, where the people make you feel like you known them all your life. Newfoundland and Labrador has a unique and diverse culture that appeals to many people. It holds a economy of innovative spirit and creativity. It has many events and decisions which has a great impact on the social and economical state.
             Zone 19 serves as a important service center for the entire province. It is the Northeast Avalon Peninsula that is also referred to as the heart of Newfoundland. It contains a number of communities including Avondale, Bauline, Colliers,Conception Bay South, Conception Harbour, Flatrock, Freshwater, Harbour Main-Chapel Cove-Lakeview, Holyrood, Lance Cove, Logy Bay- Middle Cove Outer Cove, Marysvale, Mount Pearl, Paradise, Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove, Portugal Cove-St. Phillips, Pouch Cove, St. Johns, Torbay and Wabana. Out of the twenty economic zones geographically we are the smallest. Within Zone 19 there are traditional occupations such as fishery, government, services, and retailing. Marine research and development, offshore oil, gas technology, and information technology are also important economic industries in Zone 19. Knowledge based industries with a mixture of university, research, technology, and post-secondary facilities. Future development of travel, tourism, the arts, and entertainment industries are also helping to establish a variety in the Zone's economy. .

             St. John's is the capital city of our province Newfoundland. Our traditional little fishing harbour is one of the oldest European settlements, and the most easterly city in North America. St. John's is located between the European Union and NAFTA (North American free Trade Agreement) two of the world's largest blocs. This also locates us in a unique time zone. Canadian, European, and U.S cities are just a few hours distance from where we are located.
