The crucible

Not everyone in the world has integrity. Hell, I"m not even sure I have any really. I mean if I did, when no one was looking I"d solve world hunger or save some kittens from a burning building, but instead I"d get my butt out of there, because kittens come and go, but people like me are one in a million. No I"m just kidding, but there are tons of people with integrity, and though john proctor is a made up character in a story, to me he has way more integrity than I will ever have.
Now when you first read the play, The Crucible, it seems as though John Proctor doesn't have as much integrity as we"d all like him to have. I mean he sleeps with his maid and commits lechery. Even though everyone in the entire salem town thinks he is a man of substance, you know, a real man of integrity, deep down inside we all know he is not, or is he? Integrity is defined as "completeness" or someone who does the right thing when no one is looking. So right off John Proctor does not have any, no matter how much we"d all like to have some. I mean he is the main character, and the main character always is the hero, the man who saves lives. Not John Proctor, however, until the end of the play. .
Through the entire play John Proctor debates on what he must do to make things right. But some of the time its not even about what is right, but what he wants out of this whole trial. So as we read, he tries in many ways to save his own name, his reputation, but by the end, as we all know, he does, but not in the way he first invisioned. So he tells everyone of the town that Abigail slept with him, as to say that her word against Mrs. Proctor is unjust, and when questioned about this Elizabeth, Mrs. Proctor, claims it is false. So john lands himself a seat in jail. now after months away from his beloved wife and children, he is on the verge of death, he is asked to confess that he is a witch or, a male witch, a wizard.
