Animal Rights

.
Not only does the government slaughter cows to keep the price down, they keep the cows in an inhumane environment before killing them. Animals are kept on "factory farms", where their short lives are spent in unnatural, confined quarters. These animals are slaughtered and butchered in assembly-line fashion. The whole process in which slaughtering is done is outrageous. The animal is born and kept in captivity and is not allowed to move around to prevent its meat from toughening. It lives its life waiting to be killed. This method of killing animals for consumption by humans should not be allowed to exist. .
Singer feels to prevent causing animals to suffer, animals should not be used as entertainment, which is true in many ways. Animals should not be taken out of their habitat and put into zoos, circuses, and rodeos just for the amusement of humans. Animals when put into the entertainment business are not allowed to live a normal life which they would have had. However, I believe we should be allowed to see animals in their natural habitat as long as we are careful not to disturb them. A guided safari would be a alternative way to see animals, and would prevent animals from being caged, suffering from boredom, and losing shape from lack of exercise. Since humans are linked to animals it would be hard to make changes in order to protect animals better.
Animals and humans have been linked since the very beginning. The human race has evolved over time with meat being a central part of their diet and they must have it in order to stay healthy. Taking out meat from human diets can cause malnutrition. There is no other source better than meat to get certain vitamins and minerals. In an article it states: .
because vitamins and minerals such as D, B12, calcium, iron, and zinc, may not be present in appropriate quantities, people practicing vegetarianism need to pay particular attention to their intake of these nutrients.
