Jesus the Shepherd

My personal God is Jesus as the Good Shepherd. The Bible mentions the shepherd or shepherding over 200 times. Shepherds were responsible for their sheep. They would take their sheep to pasture and water, protect them from wild animals both day and night, and keep track of all their sheep, so none would go astray. Jesus is the shepherd of the earth, and will always look after us whenever we are in need. He came into the world to bring us back to God, and save us from sin. He gave his own life up so we could live the lives we do today. He protects us from the evil in the world just like a shepherd protects his sheep.
Jesus as the Good Shepherd is my personal God because it gives me comfort to know that Jesus will always be there for me in times of need. I know now that Jesus is always with me and will never let me go too far astray before he comes looking for me. As one of His sheep, I am grateful that I have the honour of being watched over so closely by Jesus. When ever I am in trouble, whether it be serious, or just a stressful day, I know Jesus will always be there to give me love and care.
Jesus still gives himself up for me, his sheep, when I go to mass. It is there where I am reminded of the sacrifice he made for his whole flock by giving up his life for us. When I receive the body and blood of Christ, I return to my seat and thank Jesus for the sacrifice he made for us, and thank him for making me a stronger person. When I am older, I don't think death will be so bad because it is just God's calling me to return to the Shepherd. I will be with my master again in paradise.
