             Inmates, In my opinion are some of the worst people on earth. All thought they have done wrong and deserve to be punished, it is not going to do them any good sitting and rotting away in a jail cell. We need top do more with them and they need to do more with their lives. They need to do something productive and hopefully someday can be normal, everyday people that live in society with everyone else. .
             One idea is that we could give them the opportunity to acquire the skills to obtain a job; which will improve the chances that inmates will become better citizens upon their release. Programs such as rehab are aimed to change the prisoners who want to change. Inmates who are taught the essential skills in order to survive in everyday life are likely to develop the self-esteem essential to a normal behavior.
             Another technique used to rehabilitate criminals is counseling. There is two types of counseling, 1. individual and 2. group counseling. Individual counseling costs the most, and the prisons are usually on a small budget so this is not the best option for them. The goal of group counseling is to develop positive peer pressure that will influence its members. . The idea is that a variety of ideas can be derived by drawing from the experience of several people with backgrounds ranging vastly. Group .
             counseling, group interaction, and other kinds of group activities can provide a positive experience that might help with there problems ranging anywhere from murder to anger management. Most of todaycorrectional institutions lack the ability, programs, and money to rehabilitate the criminals of America. Although the best prisons and programs in the world will not cure the problem totally, improvements still can be made. .
             Another type of correctional center used for rehabilitation is halfway houses. Halfway houses are usually located in residential communities and are aimed to keep offenders in the community.
