Around this time Coke began to improve the appearance of their drink; the Hobble skirt trademark bottle was introduced. It was the bottle you could hold in your hand in the dark. Not only did they improve their appearance, but they improved the drink as well. Coca Cola no longer had cocaine, however the consumers still thought it contained drugs; they continued to use the coca leaf but they decocained it. .
In next to no time Coca Cola was being scrutinized; Harvey Wiley did not like the fact that there was caffeine in a drink that children drank. In 1911 the government of Chattanooga, Tennessee sued Coca Cola for producing a drink that contained caffeine. After this Coke ensured that the children in their ads were no younger than 12 years of age. Coke's drink and company remained consistent for the next two decades. .
Coca Cola has introduced many new things to the world, prior to Coca Cola's existence the world recognized a man by the name of St. Nick who would give away presents to good children on Christmas, he was a thin man who wore colours such as green and yellow. We may know him as Santa Clause, a fat, jolly man who wears red and white; the artists at Coca Cola created this version. Coke formed many images for the world, and after all that they still maintained consumer loyalty. They continued to make ads, in the 1960's they produced the image of the "boy-girl love". Pepsi had stuffy, boring commercials, until they came up with Pepsi Generation. Their most successful as was the "street/down n" dirty" brand. The Cola War had officially begun; Coca Cola came up with the choir commercial, their most successful commercial to date, they used the slogan "Can't Beat the Real Thing". They were both selling image. Although Coke had always employed the best artists, such as Norman Rockwell. Coke wanted to change ghettos into positive places, they wouldn't have vandalisms instead they would have Coca Cola murals.
