Government Regulations on motor vehicle have been around for many years. Most people have no idea how long we have had government restrictions on our vehicle. The restrictions on motor vehicles started in the mid seventies (New York). Though every year the equipment that they put on your vehicle is getting more and more sophisticated. .
What would you think if you had to pay every year to every other year that you would have to take your vehicle to a shop and pay to get it inspected. Yeah but did you know that in most states have mandated the use of and motor vehicle inspections (New York 2). Also if you don't have the inspection you cannot get your vehicle registered (New York 3). Thought with out the mandated testing no one would even take the time to go and have the testing done to there vehicle.
Yeah I know what your thinking what is going to happen to me when I go and get my vehicle inspected. You will have three things done to your vehicle you will have your gas cap checked your exhaust gases measured and they go through a complete look down of your vehicle to make sure it is not leaking any fluids on the ground (Connecticut 1). So when you go and get your vehicle inspected it is not so bad but it can be a hassle. .
There are numerous accounts of people not passing the inspection and people always want to know what happens to a person that cannot pass the test. You get a slip and they give you thirty days to get the problem fixed and you go after the thirty days and get a free retest. If you do not pass the retest you pay a fee of fifteen dollars and you get out of the test till the next year. So it is not that bad you might have to pay allot but eventually you can get back on the road after having to go through a lot of stuff. .
After you get the test done you think that you might be in the clear but you are not. You still have to relies that you vehicle has all of the emission controls on your vehicle.
