Cuban Missile Crisis

Through "containment of the communists and maintenance of collective security [Americans were hailed for their] achievements. Helping our allies also brought the United States a little closer to bringing democracy and healthier economies to many new countries begging for change. While the United States was creating an anti-communism crusade, the Russians were becoming more and more aggravated. Soon to come the United States will find themselves in a more frightening situation with the Russians.
American ties with Cuba started long before the cold war, it began as early as 1988 with the events that caused the Spanish American war. The U.S began to let up a little on Cuba and also made sure that there was no European power in the western hemisphere, directly off its costs. The Cubans drew up a constitution after the Spanish American war in 1902 with the help of the United States. One of the new amendments was the Platt amendment, this gave the U.S more control over Cuban affairs. This amendment basically made the United States Cuba's dad. It limited Cuba's freedom to make treaties with outside countries and gave the United States the power to interfere with newly independent Cuba. After the Spanish American war the United States was involved a lot more in the Caribbean than ever before. The Cuban people were not really happy when the U.S took it upon themselves to enter their fight. They were even less pleased that America was supervising the new Cuban constitution. This did not stop the Americans from butting in at certain periods of time and acquiring territory in Puerto Rico and a navel base at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
The Cubans have been suffering for decades. Leadership in Cuba had taken Cubans the wrong way more than just once. According to a few famous historians, they have gone from one ruthless dictator to another almost all Cuba's Government was corrupt, criminals were making lots or money on the island, and almost all Cubans were poor.
