Got Gas?

Also, different states require different ingredients for their gas grades. A grade of gasoline that is sold in Indiana cannot be sold in California, for example, because each has different ingredients in the gasoline. Because of this, the entire distribution of gasoline is strained. To sum this all up, supplies were down, and demand was high. But, why do prices go up and down?.
This is a question that is asked frequently today. We look around at each gas station in our town and every day it is different. The station where we could get gas at $1.09 will be $1.17 the next day. All in all, it is quite frustrating. There is more than one reason behind these extreme fluctuations. First of all, the available supply of gasoline each day is different. Some days of the week have a higher demand than others for the purchase of gas. On days that have a higher demand, the prices will go up and the exact opposite for days that have lower demands. Also, there are many competitors who fight for a share in the gas market today. Gas markets seem to be a hit, a true money- maker. It is only human to want what is making the most money. The effects on the Americans and our markets, however, were pretty severe.

Since prices of gas were high, people weren't able to purchase many other goods they usually do. All of people's money was being poured into their gas tanks, so in turn, our stores were having major decreases in their prices in order to try to make a living. People started doing many things because of the high prices, things they wouldn't usually do. How many people check the air in their tires everyday? Not many. As prices of gas increased though, many people began to check the pressure in their tires very frequently, to save on mileage. People also would drive farther, or turn around, because of a few cent difference at a different gas station. Usually, a few cents wouldn't make a difference, but with the prices being as high as they were, every cent mattered.
