King Lear

The poem Dingoes written by Philip Neilsen is a text which was designed to demonstrate how ridiculous the views of white people can be towards people of different colours and cultures. Neilsen makes us see this theme by using a dingo, and incorporating the animal into roles which would normally be played by non-white people in controversial situations. .
The entire poem is made up of evidence to support that the European ways of thinking are racist and unintelligent. For example, the third stanza states:.
Even the mighty Dingo Fence, twice the length of the Great Wall of China, has failed to keep some of them out of the better suburbs.
This extract pays reference to the biggest theme in the news and politics, which is the subject of immigrants. As well as this topic the poem also includes satiric comments about the discrimination of Asians, Aboriginals, communists and career-orientated women.
A classic example of satire in the poem Dingoes is revealed in the eighth stanza in the form of parody.
"Lately it has been submitted, in the highest courts of the land,.
That dingoes are violently opposed to motherhood.".
The target of this quote is obviously, the earlier mentioned career-orientated women or feminists.
Dingoes is an extremely effective poem which uses satire to make the reader realise how ridiculous the views of some people are towards others who may have differences. Neilsen has done an extremely good job in finding topics for his poem which are very controversial and well debated in today's society. .
