The Adult Years

In life, life is full of changes and how you cope with each change determines if you go on to the next chapter in your life.
In our text these changes are reviewed in the Adult Dilemma chapter. For the people that grow up following the linear change, most will experience a dilemma when life takes a nasty turn. These adults begin to blame society for their dilemma. Society has a part in it, but not all of it is to be blame. As these adults begin to blame society because of all the day to changes, they could watch there life long expectation disappears. .
In our text, when an adult losses his or her life expectations, this adult feels betrayed. He or she feels life has just robbed him blindly. When traveling this linear scale, most adults have no backup plan when life forces them to make a change. Can this adult make a change? He will, but reluctantly. When following the linear progression scale, even a small change is unthinkable. A linear progression person would views change dramatic to his life.
Using an example of this concept, the class participated in a life structure map exercise. Each class member had to draw a map of his or her journey the adult to the present. Everyone started together looking forward to a good life after high school graduation. Many had been married and divorced, two of the greatest life changes a person can have. All had changed jobs .
several times, more of those unexpected changes. During this exercise, we learned that life is full of ups and downs, curves and straight lines. No one could say his or her life followed one set plan. We would all love to have had a set plan or a set of guidelines to follow, but there is not one written down anywhere. .
Linear progression, in my opinion, is a perfect plan of the heart and mind. It is life great expectation with nothing in the way to stop your success. Thinking about how the linear progression scale works, the movie "The Truman Show" comes to mind.
