Both religions believe, we will have eternal life in heaven with God. (Glaubens 12.3-4). .
Next, I will discuss the focal point of most catholic denominations, which of course is Jesus Christ. The Catholic view is that he is the son of God, the second person of the Trinity. He is one person with both human and divine natures (Glaubens 15 1-4). The Mormon view is that Jesus was a son of God just like everyone else. The difference lies when the book of Mormon says that there was a contest for the privilege to become flesh, in order to become our redeemer. (Smith, Joseph 1Ne 2:6). Both religions believe that Jesus Christ was born of Mary, and that the birth took place in the town of Bethlehem. Also they agree on the belief that Jesus Christ has both human and divine natures. .
Another difference in the trinity is idea of God the Father. The Mormons believe that God the Father did not start off as the Supreme Being. He was promoted or he earned being the Supreme Being by living a perfect sinless life. Mormons believe differently from Catholics, in that, Catholics see the trinity as three persons in one being. Mormons see the trinity as one in purpose, but separate entities. Also, God the father has flesh and bones (Smith, Joseph 1Ne12:28). I was amazed in these differences because, as I went through high school, I was told the God the Father was the ultimate person, which created us and the universe. I was always told God was time and that he created Adam as the first man, and that they were not the same person. Adam, like us, was created in the image and likeness of God, but that we weren't one in the same. In fact, the reason why we have our mortal flaws is because Adam ate from the forbidden tree, because the devil said that if Adam ate from the tree he would become a god. I also believe that God the father does not have a body. He is a soul or a spirit. .
As Roman Catholics, we are unable to live a life righteous and just life in comparison to God's ultimate and perfect holiness.
