The Comparison of Sexual and Violent Offenders.
             Abstract.
The purpose of this experiment is to gain a better understanding of how sexual offenders and violent offenders are both the same and different from one another. The experiment also wants to find out what types of factors contribute to the crimes the offenders commit like the uses of alcohol and the relationship of the victim to the offender. The crime committed, the age of the victim, the age of the offender, and the social skills of the offenders will compare a sample of 60 adult males offenders from a local facility. By gaining a better understanding of these crimes a more effective way to prevent these crimes may be developed. .
The Comparison of Sexual and Violent Offenders.
There are very evident differences between the average sexual offender and the average violent offender, but there are also several similarities between the two. Every offense is different, but many times the factors leading to the crimes are very similar. This study will investigate the differences and the qualities that are the same between three types of offenders, rapist, those who force another to engage is sexual intercourse with them against their will, child molesters, those who take advantage of children in a sexual manner, and violent offenders, those who commit violent crimes against others, such as assault and battery. It is assumed that rapist and child molesters will have more in common, because they are sexual offenses. It is also assumed that all three types probably have trouble expressing their feelings and this is why they commit these offenses.
According to Gudjonsson and Sigurdsson (2000) child molesters and rapists are more introverted than the violent offenders. They also found out that child molesters tended to assault relatives and friends and hardly ever were drinking while committing the offense.
