(9) In 1990, under the George Bush administration, the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed, and it was thought this Act would revolutionize the nation when it came to equal rights and opportunities for those living with disabilities. This civil-rights law, forbid discrimination of various sorts against persons with physical or mental handicaps. It is this law that had the most impact on today's society, therefore it will be the one discussed at great detail.
             The primary purpose of the ADA is to prevent discrimination and enable individuals with disabilities to seek education, enter the job market and remain employed, find available public transportation and have physical barriers that are encountered everyday by these individuals eliminated.
