Human Computer Interface

A report on a range of HCI and their Applications.

Human Computer Interface has been very important, as it has developed over the years to help users to use computer hardware and software. Some such developments are in this report.
             PROCEDURE.
             1. Describe in HCI terms of developments in hardware and software.
             2. Virtual Reality.
             3. Flight Simulators.
             FINDINGS.
             1. Developments in hardware and software.
There have been many software and hardware developments one first such development is.
             1.1 Computer Processors.
There have been very large advancements in computer processors that allow users to do bigger and better things. One major piece of technology that has allowed for this to happen is the heat sink, as the processors run at such high temperatures if they did not have these heat sinks on they would burn out.
As the computer processor (CPU) is getting faster it can perform the ever-increasing tasks it is asked to do. This is because computers are no longer just built to do calculations. They are asked to design and draw models. There are more Desktop PC's in the home than there ever was. These PC's are asked to do more tasks such as calculations and they need be able to play computer games. The home PC needs to be able to handle these games if it isn't able to users will just turn to the other consoles on the market that are purpose built to support the games. This is why a faster processor helps to lead to faster applications such as games or office applications e.g. Microsoft Word.
As the CPU is being called upon more and more to do all these task it is able to juggle the task it is asked to perform. This is multitasking which allows the CPU to still run all the tasks it is asked to do but it puts them in an order so it doesn't drain the system resources so much. Unfortunately if too many tasks are asked to be performed by the CPU it will cause your computer/workstation to slow down. To stop this problem occurring too often must be a where that the computer can only do so much at one time.
