3. Conrad and his family lived in a wealthy suburban town in Chicago. The neighborhood seemed showy and a perfect mask for whatever might be going on inside. .
Even though Conrad did have this extravagant home to go to and a small circle of friends, I don't believe this covered up his sense of guilt from his brother's death and no amount of money could put a Band-Aid on that wound. .
4. When Conrad went on his first date with his love interest, Jeannine, they discussed when people do wrong things do they deserve their punishment received and Conrad replied that he doesn't believe in God. I feel that is lack of a higher believe could've contributed since he didn't feel he was disappointing or letting anybody down if his suicide was a success. .
5. Conrad after his suicide attempt was getting yelled and possibly negatively encouraged by his swim coach. If this negative feedback was occurring during Conrad's grieving process, it would've made it easy for him to think about ending his live since both his family and swimming isn't supportive. I also believe that Buck was an excellent swimmer who also swam with Conrad and maybe every time Conrad jumped in the water, the reminder of the ocean and his brother reminded Conrad dirtying his mind.
6. From viewing Conrad amongst his swim team, it felt like he either didn't want to be there or he didn't belong. For example, Conrad got in a fight with a teammate he knew wasn't very intelligent, but I believe little annoyances were getting to him. This pressure to succeed from both his parents and coach could not have made it an easy recovery.
7.Conrad seemed to be questioning his place in life and his family situation. It was obvious his mother didn't want him around and by him visiting Dr. Berger he proved that he did need to talk about what he should do. Towards the end of the movie he was taking control over his anger and expressing his emotions openly.
