The year was 1856 and all the African-American people who were being held against their will were released. In a world that was perfect one hundred years would be an eternity to change what is wrong. In 1963 the wrongs against the African-American person were still being performed. The black man was separated as much as possible from the white people, separate bathrooms drinking fountains and other things were used to keep the two separate races as fare apart as possible. Dr. Martin Luther King was tired of the African American people being stepped over and taken advantage of. Dr. King took a stand that would help his people gain the freedom that his people deserved many years before. .
This one man has helped the African-American society so much it is almost indescribable in words. For the most part, there is no racial segregation in America today, black and white children learn together, play together and also grow up together. The government has done as much as they can to make sure that both black and white people are given the same equal opportunities. This helps give the minority people the same opportunity for a pay increase and also future promotions.

Society as a whole has changed by leaps and bounds for the African American people. At times in the past, you would be hard pressed to find a successful black man or woman anywhere. Today there are many black men in today's business world who are among the richest in the world. One man who comes to my mind is the creator of the Def Jam music empire. Russell built the industry from ground up starting with just one artist by the name Slick Rick. Now today's record company is dominated by African American people who lead the industry in the behind the scene work and also the music that is put out. .
On November 2nd, 1982, the United States passed a law which gives a Holliday set aside for Dr. King. American has changed a great deal, it is has gotten better for the African American people.
