Thyroid Gland is an organ which is located in the front lower part of the neck. The thyroid gland releases the hormone thyroxin, T4, and triiodothyronine,T3, which directly goes into the blood and is distributed through out the body. The thyroide gland regulates the function of every cell and tissue. It is essential to a normal body growth in infancy and childhood. These are esstentionl hormones that increase the rate of processing affect body temperature, regulate protein, fat, and carbohydrate catabolism in all cells. They keep up growth hormone release, skeletal maturation, and the heart rate, force, and output. They promote central nervous system growth, stimulate the making of many enzymes, and are necessary for muscle tone and vigor.1 All phases of the making and the release of T4 and T3 are regulated by the thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) released by the front pituitary gland. The pituitary gland is most influential gland in the body and the thyroid reseives demands from it. .
Unfortunately, many problems can accur during the export of hormones. The Thyroid Hormone is an iodine-containing compound. In turn, the hormone needs iodine for production. The iodine is extracted from a variety of foods, as like vegetables, shellfish, milk and iodinized salt. So in a case of lack or having too much iodine, a goiter, enlarged thyroid, may devolope. Hence, if the production of thyroid hormones is too-great in excess, this is called hyperthyroidism.
