            As we head into the 21st century, it's easy to see that computers have become a major necessity in today's modern world. Computers have become popular for all sorts of people, ranging from small children to large business owners. In today's technological world, computers are no longer just in businesses but in almost every household. Computers enable you to do just about anything from your own home, even filing you"re your income tax. Not everything is great about computers and the new technology era we are in. Along with the good that computers bring, there are also some bad things that come along with owning a computer. You see, technology is not only used by people trying to do good, but also by people trying to cause havoc. These people create things called viruses. Almost every computer user in the world has heard of computer viruses. Many even have had the misfortune of experiencing a virus attack at some point in their usage.
             Viruses are short programs that are not accidental. Someone, somewhere, has purposely designed a version of a virus, usually with malicious intent. A virus is any program that reproduces itself by using the resources of your computer without your knowledge or consent. Viruses can but written to multiply or to damage other programs and files or to alter data. There are many types of viruses out there that could very well damage your computer system and force you into a big financial expenditure . Yearly thousands of people suffer often-irrecoverable damage to their systems and the sad part is that many don't even realize what hit them. .
             A computer virus can only survive, attack and propagate in computer memory. The first step in any virus attack is always the invasion. This is when the virus actually enters the computer system from an outside source. These viruses enter the computer through two main entrances. These are the disk drives and the network adapter cards.
