             avoid a relinquishment of power in the future. Deceiving ones subjects into thinking that .
             the individual cares about them so that they will side with the person in times of turmoil, .
             rendering the death penalty to all criminals so that they never have an opportunity to .
             commit crime again, and steering free from any relation with the church so that this .
             ruler's deceptive and fraudulent manners by which they rule will never get publicized, .
             are three of Machiavelli's steps which he mentions; Although these steps are immoral .
             and dishonest, they are what Machiavelli believes will be the proper way of taking over a .
             state. Were Machiavelli's guide lines only potentially successful because of the era in .
             which he wrote them?.
             Machiavelli's book, "The Prince" was written in the sixteenth century. By then he .
             had already achieved power over the state though his position as a diplomat of Florence, .
             so he was quite knowledgeable in politics, though it was after the Medici family removed .
             him from office that he wrote the book. Machiavelli was ahead of his time as his .
             philosophical ideas were too insightful for the average person's intelligence at the time. .

             His tactics were harsh, though very witty. Machiavelli had only written this book to .
             impress the Medici family enough that they would restore his former political position, .
             though as it turned out, it became a politician's sidekick in the rough political, and .
             corporate, world of today. In contrast with "The Prince", Luke's Gospel had somewhat .
             different origins.
             Luke's Gospel has a few mysteries behind it: the date it was written and by whom .
             it was written. These truths may never be uncovered, though whoever wrote this Gospel .
