There is a competition held every year Mississippi to find the best marksmen in the force.
What the NRA wants to achieve is to have guns available to only people who are qualified to use them. Firearms can be used for great fun as well as protection in ones neighborhood. Guns were invented and there is no way that they can disappear. The world must accept that guns can be dangerous, but if people are more educated about guns then they can make better decisions. "Even with strict gun control, guns can be obtained by those who really want them. In Germany, it's easy to travel to the Czech Republic or Poland and bring back a gun. Guns can even be made at home"(Washington Post, May 3,2002).
In the past and present the NRA has always had a say in politics by donating campaign money, lobbying for gun laws, and making helpful decisions for the public in gun protection. Most members of the NRA are Republicans because of their view on the right to bear arms and give more support to defense spending. NRA members that hold firearms in ones home find this convenient for their protection. Also most Republican's are more of the outdoorsmen type and appreciate firearms or have a greater respect for them. "One came during a hearing of the House subcommittee on commerce, trade and consumer protections, which was discussing a Republican-promoted measure to give gun manufacturers and sellers protection from pesky lawsuits"(The Washington Post, April 22, 2002, Monday, Final Edition). Over the past election for the President of the United States often people say that Gore lost the southern states because of focusing too much on guns and that is truly not the problem. The N!.
RA feels that the guns are not the problem and that people are just not educated enough then what they should be to prevent tragedies. .
Throughout the history of the NRA, they have never experienced the backing of a Democrat during their yearly convention in Reno Nevada for more then a decade.
