Granny

I always looked forward to my summer vacations. This was the one time of the year that I got to spend with my grandmother. When I would get out of school my parents would send me to the country for the summer. I loved it. Spending my summers with my grandmother were some of the best times I remember. She was always very kind to everyone. She treated everyone like they were family. Granny firmly believed in it takes a village to raise a child. .
Granny had long curly hair that she always wore in two braids. Standing only at four feet seven inches she is a feisty little woman. Her smile is so warm and inviting. It makes you feel like no matter how big or small the problem is, she can fix it. At ninety-four years old she is still running her house and anybody else's who she thinks needs some help.
There was a time when some kids were stealing peaches from her peach tree. .
It made her mad because they would trample through her garden. She had asked them before to stay out of her garden. One day while we were sitting on the front porch shelling peas, she heard them in her garden. She grabbed her switch and walked around to the back of the house. It must have terrified the boys because when she got to the back of the house I heard screaming. Granny had two of them by the ears dragging them inside the house. She made them call their parents. Their parents came to pick them up and talk to Granny. She let them now what their children had done. Then she offered a punishment for the two boys. Their parents agreed. Their punishment was to come over three times a week, for two weeks, and help Granny in the garden. At the end of their punishment she told them that she didn't want to see them at her house or anybody else's stealing. And she gave them a sack of peaches. I asked her why she did that and she told me that she was teaching them an important lesson. She explained that they would not steal from her again and they would warn any other children who where considering it.
