Parents need to develop openness and trust with their teenage children and chances are, that if at any stage they had the desire to try drugs they may come and ask their parents about it and it would become easier for the parents to make them understand the worst effects that can happen to them after the use of drugs.
In addition to parent habit of taking drugs in front of children, friends who take drugs pull other friends into their bad habits. This is also known as "Peer Pressure". For example, if one belongs to a group of friends who use drugs, then to remain in that group one gets forced to do what the others are doing and also start to taking drugs with them. The most dangerous age for the kid to start taking drugs is when they just enter there teens, these are mostly the eighth graders. According to a 1995 Monitoring the Future Study, an annual survey of 50,000 students conducted by the University of Michigan revealed that the use of marijuana has doubled among the eighth graders, up to 16% over the previous few years. This is the age when the children's awareness increases and they are more curious to try out new things. When they see and hear strange things about drugs from there friend their curiosity increases and they are automatically pulled towards it. It is a normal tendency to follow what your friends do, so if one of the friends takes drugs there are chances that he may force or convince his other friends to join him. The parents need to keep an eye on the type of friends his kid have, and if they find anything suspicious they must try to correct their child at the spot before it is to late.
Finally, stress is said to be a common reason which get people into the habit of taking drugs. A lot of experts are also of the strong opinion that teenagers often take drugs in order to fight with there social and academic pressures, emotional pain, and other difficulties. It is thought that the use of drugs reduces stress, and lowers ones stress level.
