Did you know a couple of years ago in the Philippines a little over half of the country's population was living below the poverty line? These statistics show just how vital health is. Living in America shows how thankful people should be for what we have because other people in different countries are struggling more than you. In the Philippines an average family of 6 only earn $54.18 a month, and an average family in America can earn that within a few hours of work.
             The high rate of people in need of a job is very insufficient because the lack of access to land, also which makes it very tough to build buildings and open up more job markets. A history of inappropriate economic policies contributed to high unemployment and a high proportion of the labor force. Most of the wages are really low it declined about 3% each year since 1960. The weak labor unions were unable to affect the deterioration of others earning power.
             Individuals living in the Philippines are said to be living in absolute poverty when they are unable to obtain at least a specified minimum of food, clothing, and shelter, all of these are necessary things to a key to survival. In the Philippines it is said that if you are not consuming a basket of food with 2,016 calories and 50 grams of protein per day it is considered that you are living under the poverty line. In 1988 the poverty line for a family of 6, it was estimated that P$2,709 pesos a month which now calculates to US$54.18. In 1985 a little more that half of the countries population was living below the poverty line, also in 1971 the same thing reoccurred. It seems like a reoccurring theme that will happen over and over until the government can do something about it.
