Howling Grace

Why is the wolf big and so bad? Because it huffs and puffs and blows away the houses of the pigs so that it can have the pigs as lunch. As we have learnt in school, the wolf is a carnivorous animal which depends on the flesh of other animals. The wolf doesn't kill animals just for the fun of it, but for the wolf to live. It eats tiny animals like mice, hamsters and also big animals like deer or cattle. Undoubtedly, the pig is included in its menu. However, we cannot say that the wolf is a vicious animal because it eats other animals. Even we eat flesh of other animals, but are we mean and evil too? .
Sometimes the wolf is considered as a cunning animal. The story of the "Little Red Riding Hood" is a story that we all have read. The little girl meets a wolf on the way to her grandma's place and the wolf asks her where she is going to. Then it goes to grandma's house and disguises itself as grandma to eat the little girl. This story gives us the impression that a wolf is a very bad animal and that we should avoid it. Do you know that only three wolf attacks on humans have been reported in the past couple of decades in North America? This study was done by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and most of all none of the attacks were deadly ones. Thus, do you think a story like the Red Riding Hood could ever happen in reality? .
The cartoon series "Teenwolf" had always been one of my favorites and the concept of a werewolf has always been there in a corner of our minds. What is a werewolf really? According to legend it is a man who automatically turns into a wolf on full moon days. "Were" is an old English term for man. So werewolf means wolf-man. Werewolves were not friendly creatures as we see in "Teenwolf", but they were apparently man eating monsters. Moreover, the legend of the werewolf originated in Germany. In the 1500's Europe was under deep superstitions and disbeliefs. It is told that a wolf was found eating humans and when the villagers were about to catch him he turned into a man, and he turned out to be one of their own villagers.
