She is a woman convicted of conspiring to kill her four year old son with two other men.
Based upon my research I find it hard to believe that she received the death penalty. According to one of the sites I visited she was coerced into a partial confession which was not witnessed or signed or recorded by anyone except for the one interrogating officer. Then it says that she was given a polygraph test by the police shortly after being arrested and passed but it was never entered into evidence or even brought up in court. The prosecution painted her as evil and showed how she did not seem to have any emotion throughout the trial this was due to some anti anxiety drugs she was taking. Her defense team said later that she would cry uncontrollably when in the holding room. Finally both the men she supposedly conspired with said repeatedly that she had nothing to with it and she was completely innocent. For all these reasons and a few more I do not believe she should get the death penalty there are many mass murderers spending life in prison and she did not even actively participate in the murder.
I do not believe that women should get special consideration in sentencing as they are no different from men. Some would even say that they are smarter and therefore more aware of what they are doing. I do believe on the other hand that mentally impaired people should be given special consideration as they are not in full control of all their mental faculties. I also believe that it is odd to catergorize women next to mentally challenged people in the phrasing of this question like they are both at a disadvantaged legally.
