Death Penalty

We live in a society where there are criminals who commit certain crimes and in some circumstances, the victims" are repaid with the loss of the criminal's life. There are other ways to solve this problem rather than to succumb to animalistic and medieval ways of legal rectification. We humans do not have the right to play God. We were all created equally and are supposed to be judged equally after death; we are not to judge other people if we are not any better than they are, not even if worse. If we, according to political and moral law, are not given the right to take a life, why should the responsibility be given to the State which is ruled by people? When did the protection of our citizens give us the authority to kill those who went against it . they lost their privileges as citizens of our country but they are still human, and that is a God-given right, not an American given right. .
This whole issue with the approval of the death sentence has raised many concerns with the public, because of the public's concern with fairness and equality. But when I say "We, the Public", I am not speaking for all of us. .
Alberto Morales, a fellow classmate at the Inter-American University believes otherwise. He stated:.

"The purpose of our entire criminal justice system is to protect the rights of life, liberty, and property for all its citizens. To do this, the punishment for crime must be harsh enough to deter potential criminals. Under this mindset, the death penalty makes perfect sense. Here is a punishment that truly makes a criminal pay for his crime, stops the criminal from committing it again, and deters other criminals from committing the same crime. The punishment for murder is getting to be shorter and shorter. A judge could sentence a man to life in prison. That same man could be out of jail with 15 years. How has life in jail become known as ten to fifteen years? If the judge says life with no parole, then the criminal could stay in jail a bit longer, but that would mean the state and it's voters would have to take care of the prisoner for twenty to twenty five years.
