Summary Of 'Antoinette, A Novel' By Ann Plumptre

Stromberg, to England for the winter. In the summer they all travel to Hampshire and Henry ends up staying there until he is 15 to be educated by Mr. Shire. In the winter Antoinette, Horita, and Dr. Stromberg lived in London and in the summer, Hampshire until Henry was 15 and Antionette was 17, then they moved back to Arlington Castle. .
When they returned to Arlington Castle, Henry told his mother, Horita, of one summer when a strange man came up to him and asked him questions of his family and then wanted a piece of his hair as a keepsake and in return the strange man gave him a watch. This is Theodore but the characters do not know this information, yet. Mrs. Simmons, the house sitter, also had a strange encounter with a man, as just described, saying he destroyed a picture of Mr. Percival and copied a picture of Mrs. Percival and had very strange behavior. This is a different man but the character believe it is the same man. The news of this man made Horita think it could be Theodore and she was then sad because she found out it wasn't him. .
The time came when Horita told Antoinette and Henry of their family history, much emotion and drama occured. Well a few weeks later, Antoinette was wandering about in a forest and a Hermit, extremely excited to see her, startled her and asked her to meet him in the same place tomorrow, she agreed. After the encounter, Antoinette dashed to a near-by priest's house, who likes her, and told him of the Hermit. The Priest exclaimed he knew the Hermit and visited him often so Antoinette and the Priest walked to the Hermit's cell and arrived just in time to see him die. Before he died, he gave Antoinette some papers and a cross. [Interesting about the death of the Hermit is the author never went into great detail with the other deaths just said "they died" and went on with the story but with the Hermit's death, the author, described the misery and pain he was in] Antoinette and the Priest tell about the Hermit to Horita and Henry, Horita becomes excited because it might be Theodore.
