Things Fall Apart

In this book report I am going to simply summarize the story and tell important things and people in the book. The main character in the book is a man named Onkonkwo. Onkonkwo is a rich and somewhat successful man of the Umuofia clan. The Umuofia clan is in lower Nigeria that is part of separate villages. A struggle that Onkonkwo deals with in the book is his father who was a man that in Onkonkwo's eyes was a lazy and cowardly man. Onkonkwo is a clansman of the tribe and has son named Nwoye, and thinks that he is lazy and worries that his son will become a failure like his won father Unoka. .
Later in the story Onkonkwo wins a fifteen-year-old boy for the tribe. Onkonkwo treats the boy like his own son and takes charge of him. The boy's name was Ikemefuna and becomes somewhat attached to him, but Onkonkwo does not show any emotion for fear of looking weak. Ikemefuna also takes liking to Onkonkwo the man who he now calls father. .
During the week of peace, Onkonkwo beats one of his wives, breaking the peace of the sacred week. Although Onkonkwo tries to make up for his mistake, the rest of the village is still somewhat upset.
Later in the book, the village has locusts come to Umuofia. The village thinks that this is a great occasion and likes it when the locusts come because after they catch them, they cook them and then eat them because they are good to eat.
One day a village elder comes to Onkonkwo and says that the Oracle told him that Ikemefuna must be killed because. But he tells Onkonkwo should not take place in the killing because, Ikemefuna called Onkonkwo by Father. To get Ikemefuna to leave with out suspicion the tribe tells Ikemefuna that he is going back to his own tribe, which makes Ikemefuna uneasy. Nwoye is upset that Ikemefuna is going to die because he had made a kind of friendship with Ikemefuna. .
Walking back to the tribe Ikemefuna thinks about his family, when men form the Umuofia tribe kill Ikemefuna with machetes.
