A very apparent symptom would be the accident of birth. It is a proven fact that most people are followers of the same religion that their parents follow. In fact a person could very easily segregate a world map into regions of prevalent religion. Yes it is true that in some cases a person will not follow this rule but the evidence found thus far proves that it is very unlikely. If you were to ask a child what religion the believed in the would respond with what ever there parents told them they were not because they made a conscious choice about it but rather because they are replicating what they were told. The reason it is so unlikely for a person to go against their religious upbringing when they are old enough to think for themselves is because the religion is great at getting the mind to obey as well as replicate. Again it starts in early childhood and the first technique used is cognitive dissonance. If the child tries to stray away from faith in their parents beliefs they are met with discontent and sometimes even punishment. However if a child obeys the virus and shows strong faith they are rewarded. This is how religion first controls the mind. The parents of course don't realize that they are infecting their child because they don't realize that they themselves are infected. Once a person gets a bit older the cognitive dissonance strategy mat not be enough for the virus to keep a tight grasp. This is where the next strategy comes in, conditioning. Many religions have chants and group prayers that repeat over an over the beliefs that make up that religion. As noted before this is effective method so it is no surprise to see adults very assured that they have the answer and that there religion is the right one. Some religions use the Trojan horse method to infect new minds. For example some followers of a certain faith will come to your door and use this method to attract you to their beliefs and bring you in as a follower too.
