Missions

The first few days at Chile were uneasy, we didn't know what to expect or how to encounter with the upcoming tasks at hand. When we arrived we were greeted by the Missionary Samuel, Andres, Haemin, and Sunmin. We were brought to an apartment, which would be our home for the time being. The places we were given contained heating, a kitchen and a laundry machine. When I first decided to go on missions, I was anticipating physically demanding labor and hardships; however we were given comfortable accommodations and warm food. The when we arrived at the church, the natives opened their hearts to us and took care of us everyway.
The first week passed quickly because we were all excited in getting to know each other. The third day after arrival most of the members became ill and were disabled from working for a day. However the day after we came back strong and everything began to fall into place. The VBS we prepared for the kids was a success.
For the two weeks, we worked hard. We might have slacked off once in a while, but our hearts were in the right place. I could feel the change in the atmosphere. A strong bond seemed to have formed among us all. In those few short days, I can feel that I have grown more spiritually. .
On the second to last day we returned back to the San Pedro Church, where we had a little fiesta. The members of the church made a little farewell party on the last days at Chile. I couldn't believe that the two weeks have gone by already. Those two weeks have felt incredulously good. Even through our minimal hard times, I felt that nothing could go wrong. My first retreat would be a memorable one, and I look forward to going on another in years to come.
