Violence In Society

            When turning on the television there are many news channels broadcasting what is going on in all parts of the world. Usually the news has a lot to do with the bad aspects of the world for example war and hate crimes. Even though many may argue that there is too much violence being shown on television, I feel that they are wrong. There are three reasons why I think we should not limit the amount of violence being exposed to Americans. The first thing is the news which plays a major role in most of the violence we see. Every night around five o-clock thousands tune in to their local news channel. Most of what they see is the horrible events happening all over the world, usually involving a lot of violence. But all that we see is true and people want to be informed. So the news says and shows it like it is. Violence in the news is like an action packed sequence from a movie, it keeps the viewers interested. Without it the news would be boring and no one would tune in. Who would want to watch a guy in front of the camera reading of facts, no one. Another thing is the newspaper. Pictures of violent scenes are always on the front page. This is what grabs the viewer to buy and keep reading the newspaper. Pictures make the article more effective. The second reason why we shouldn't limit the violence is children. I know it might sound strange but you do not know how many parents say that there is too much violence on television and little kids shouldn't see it. Well I say that it is up to the parents to watch over their children and make sure that they do not see anything they do not want them to see. Television stations are not going to revolve all their shows around children because no one would be watching TV. Then the stations would be losing money. There really is not that many shows that contain that much violence that little kids would be interested in watching so parents shouldn't worry. Children never watch the news they would rather watch cartoons.
