First Love

The author chose this book mainly because it relates to the main character of the story. The main character whose name is Regina recognizes that her "first love" is God whom she had left. As she goes through life she struggles to see that she can't do nothing without him. She finds herself drifting further and further away from God until it seems that she has completely separated herself from his will and presence. Through her personal journey for true happiness in looking for love, Regina overcomes heartbreak and disappointment to realize that she already has everything she needs.
The book begins with a conversation between Regina and her so called "Christian Ex", Calvin. This was a good way to begin the story. It was interesting to know that before Church was about to start, they had just finished "taking care of business!" I mean you really not suppose to do those kinds of things before going to church. Also, it was a good way to begin because it helped me to realize what I should look for in the rest of the story.
Regina is like my cousin, Niki. They are alike because they both went through the same situations. When the author wrote this book it was really based on my cousin. She switched some things around so people wouldn't know exactly that it was my cousin who she was talking about. My cousin and Regina were different because some of things Regina went through my cousin didn't. .
I think the ending was fabulous. Regina had gone through many situations such as abuse, being misused, and in institutions. At the end she gets her deliverance and surrenders her life to God. She also marries .
Jeff, someone she would never think could be her husband. The ending was awesome and made me feel good.
One important lesson Regina learned was once you fall, get back up and try again. She learned that even though she made mistakes that she could learn from them. Even though she sinned and was disobedient, God was still with her.
