Voting Age: Is It Time For A Change?

I also would say teenagers who go to trial are tried as adults more and more these days. Many teenagers who commit major acts of crime are being sentenced to adult-sized punishment. Why couldn't sixteen year olds be given the right to vote if they are able to take on the responsibility of an adult in a court of law?.
Another one of the major reasons I think changing this Amendment would be smart is the easy way people could register to vote. If the voting age was changed to sixteen, the smartest thing to do would be to have boys or girls to register to vote at the same time they get their drivers license. Voter turnout for most elections has been diminishing over the past few years. Changing the amendment would definitely increase the amount of registered voters, and it would most likely increase voter turnout in most elections. I find this method more convenient because one of the major reasons voter turnout is so bad in many elections are because thousands of Americans all over the country aren't even registered to vote in the first place. A lot of people are too lazy to get up and go register to vote. I would hope that if a person was given the chance to register to vote at the same time they are getting their drivers licenses, they would find it more convenient for themselves.
I also think that this younger generation is discriminated against because of their assumed lack of political knowledge. Most of the older people in this society may think if they give younger people the right to vote, those votes will not be based on the issues. Because of a lack of political knowledge, or even a lack of caring about an election make many young, and even old, Americans cast their votes not based on the issues, but by name recognition, looks, others opinions, etc. No vote is wrong in my opinion. For example, when President Bush won this last election, don't you think the Democrats were angry? And when President Clinton was put into office, didn't you think Republicans all over the country were disappointed? Of course they were, but that doesn't mean that the voting is wrong.
