It is interesting that in the ancient times hardly anybody had an opinion against hunting because it was an essential part of human life. Today, we just farm animals or somebody kills for us to get us meat or fur. In nature there are and have always been either hunters or hunted. However, because of declining of the commonness of hunting, many of the objections come from people, especially of those who are just not used to hunting being around. So, what is the difference between people who hunting for meat and those who buy it in markets, asks Humberto Fontova in his essay "Why We Hunt." I believe that hunting, the feature we get from nature, has been and always be the part of us, as creatures of natural world.
Eating meat is natural. Meat is and has always been a major component of the human diet. Despite animal "rights" activists who claim that humans do not require animal proteins to meet all the nutritional needs, health authorities have recommended, in fact, the diet with calories from different animal and plant products such as from meat, fish, vegetable, and fruits. For the past two million years humans have evolved as omnivorous; to propose humans as vegetarians in nature is unjustified. Hunting to eat meat of animals is a natural right of ours. .
However, today, very few hunters are hunting out of need to survive. Instead, hunting became a sport. I believe that the natural instinct is what mostly motivates us to hunt. In spite of advanced technology and civilization in our days, in our inner nature we all are animals, and the hunting instinct has remained to be one of the fundamental elements of human nature. Of course, not everybody hunting, but this is another issue that is clarified by psychologists putting on personalities and other nature characters of us. However, for most of us hunting fits in our lives as a sport today and gives us an opportunity to express our instinctual nature.
