Wiglaf

            Wiglaf is a character that we do not hear much of throughout the story of Beowulf. It is not until the final scene of Beowulf that he becomes an admirable character in the plot. Wiglaf can be thought of as an ordinary follower who showed his courage and bravery when the time was appropriate. Wiglaf proves himself to be a commendable successor of Beowulf. He takes on the qualities of a hero during the final battle of Beowulf. He proves that he has leadership skills. Wiglaf also shares many qualities with Beowulf. Wiglaf demonstrates his ability to become a suitable heir of Beowulf.
             Wiglaf acquires the traits of a hero during the final combat of Beowulf. Wiglaf demonstrates the courage of a hero when he helps Beowulf fight the dragon. Unlike the rest of Beowulf's followers, he keeps his promise to give his life in battle if Beowulf needed help. Wiglaf further establishes his rank as a hero by standing brave by his leader and being willing to sacrifice his life in order to defeat the dragon. Wiglaf gains the characteristics of a hero during the final encounter of Beowulf.
             Wiglaf establishes that he has leadership abilities. During the battle with the dragon, Wiglaf did not hide in fright like Beowulf's other retainers. By helping Beowulf defeat the dragon, he confirms his ability to be an effective leader. Wiglaf's courage, bravery, and valor during the battle with the dragon reveal his capability of being a successful ruler. Wiglaf verifies that he has leadership skills.
             Wiglaf shares many traits with Beowulf. He shows that he is brave like Beowulf when he makes the decision to help his leader. He proves to have leadership aptitudes like Beowulf by holding his ground with the dragon until fate decided the victor. He validates that he has strength like Beowulf when he is able to help defeat the powerful dragon. Wiglaf holds many equivalent qualities that Beowulf owns.
             Wiglaf proves himself to be a suitable successor of Beowulf.
