Love can go one way on the first day, and the total opposite on the second day. That's what is so great about love, you never know where it will take you, but everyone hopes that it leads you along the path of happiness. Where will love take you next? You"ll never know until you take that road. Hopefully you will not have ride along the "Thunder Road", like Springsteen. His song, as well as Costello's is very similar, but very unique in its own way. I Want You to follow me along the Thunder Road for a few minutes.
Springsteen's piece is of course a song of troubled love; as well as Costello's, I Want You. At the beginning of Thunder Road, it seems as if he getting dumped by his girlfriend. It explains this heart break in a different way, but he sings, "The screen door slams, Mary's dress waves". It shows that she is mad, or upset, and she slams the door and her dress waves from the breeze, as if she was actually waving good-bye to him with hand. In "I Want You", the beginning also shows some kind of break up. He says, "Oh my baby baby I love you more than I can tell, I don't think I can live without you and I know I never will. Then it goes on to say, "I woke up and one of us was crying". He is saying that his girlfriend broke up with him and he can't live without her. He has been with her so much that he doesn't know what he"ll do without her in his life. When he talks about someone crying, he is revealing that he wakes up in the middle of the night in so much pain. The beginning of these two songs, show that a break up has happened and what will happen next; they don't know.
If you have ever fallen in love before, then you know that you can't express what it feels. No words, pictures, etc. can explain how you felt. These two situations that the artists explain are experiences that do occur in the emotion of love. When you are in love, you think that you are on top of the world, but the only thing is, there is always an end.
