Alan Greenspan is the second most ruling person in the United States of America, after the president, but is also like the many other numerous people in government today. He is a well thought of administrator, and has been a public servant for many years. He attended New York University in 1977, where he received a Ph. D. in economics. Greenspan first got into politics in 1967; he was director of the domestic policy research for Richard M. Nixon's campaign. From 1954 to 1974 and 1977 and 1987 he was Chairman and President of Townsend Greenspan & Co, which is a economic consulting firm in New York City. In 1974 to 1977 he was chair of the president's Council on Economic Advisors, which provides the president with advice on international economic policy issues. Between the years of 1981 and 1983 he was part of the National Commission of Social Security Reform, which made a big improvement in the nation's Social Security system. Greenspan is determined to keep the rise in the general level of prices down and gain consumer confidence in the economy. He is well liked in the financial community. He encourages the free market, but doesn't agree with the government intervening with the economy. Greenspan wants to contribute to the process of growth in consumer and employment assurance. Alan Greenspan will always be famous for making some very important decisions in the economy.
