College Degrees, Cheap: What I Say About Them

            
             The cost of your education is increasing but a San Jose State University degree is still a bargain. The tuition increase was necessary because of the current California budget crisis. With Davis" budget cutting services everywhere it would be wrong for the state university system to not experience similar hardship, and some of the burden has rightly been placed upon the students themselves. Compared to other colleges of its kind in the US it is easy to see just how affordable the California State University system is. That means that CSU tuition could double and still be within the norms of American schools. It is true that many state university students come from lower income families. But if students find that they cannot afford an education at a state school, then they still have options available to them. One danger of offering education at a very low price is that people will buy it just because it is cheap, and not because they want a college degree. We can either cut into the quality of college or we can increase costs. Even with such increases a California State University degree will continue to be well worth the price. All this is said in the article College Degrees, Cheap by Sol Blimber.
             I completely agree with what Blimber had to say in his article. The thought that even though CSU tuition has increased the education you receive is well worth it. I agree with the comparison that he made with CSU and other American schools and how a CSU is less expensive. The fact that even if you cannot afford a CSU there are other options which is very true. One point that I disagreed with was when he said, "One danger of offering education at a very low price is that people will buy it just because it is cheap and not because they want a college degree". I don't believe that someone would actually do that with extra money that they have.
             An increase on tuition and still Blimber says it's worth it.
