Death Penalty

Almost everyday, the newspaper carry reports of citizens taking law into their hands and lynching suspects .Its difficult to convince such people that they are wrong when the state deems death to be just retribution for those who wrong others. Like the State, the mob too is sure it has justly tried the suspect and sentenced him or her to death.
Have you ever lost a loved one to the hands of a murderer or been a victim of violent crime, rape or defilement. To me my best friend David, was murdered in 1994 and in 1996 his younger friend brother died from pneumonia which he contracted when someone beat him and put him in a cold without cause. In 1988,armed robbers raided our neighbor's house at night, cut iron grills with axes and stole money, a TV and a video player; therefore I strongly support capital punishment.
Though capital punishment is a barbarous, primitive method of retribution, I still propose it, because in normal circumstances many convicts are condemned after fair trials, trials with international standards, many had lawyers to defend them and the majority are tried in courts where legal aid was available.
Even if there is no evidence that capital punishment discourages crime, it offers not meant merely as a deterrent to the wider society it's a deterrent to the convicts themselves. Every carjacking, serial killer or violent robber is one felon in the world. Viciuos killers need to be killed to prevent them from murdering again either in jail or in society if they should get out .
Simple justice demands that murderes pay with their lives for the crime of snuffing out innocent lives, and another reason why they should be put to death as soon as possible is that left for long death row, they prey on human compassion.
Killing convicted criminals is supportable not as deterrent but to satisfy that private bloodthirst that thrives in those who are offended. It's a way of making people pay for their crimes.
