             Few cities have are as interesting and varied as Laredo, TX. Laredo is a South Texas border town with Mexico. Laredo is a city of contrasts in a great number of aspects. Laredo has very interesting history that not many people know about. Also it is the second fastest growing city in the nation. .
             Laredo's contrasts are evident in everything from the people to the weather. Everyday you see the differences from homeless people to escalades with 20s spinning right past you. . The weather in Laredo is as unpredictable as heads or tails, it rains whenever it wants, its hot in summer and freezing in winter. .
             When the weather is good, there are many things to do for fun, paintball, the Laredo Entertainment Center, you can go out to play pool, or you can just plain cruise with your friends. Nuevo Laredo, our Mexican counterpart, is just 5 minutes away and the nightlife there takes up an extra notch, the river doesn't separate us, it unites us like they say. We have a great hockey team though it seems unlikely since its extremely hot in here most of the time.
             When the fun is over, there's a lot of history to make Laredo proud. We all know the story of the six flags that have flown over Texas, The Spanish, French, Mexican, Republic of Texas, Confederate, and the United States of American flags. The story of the seventh flag, which flew over Laredo, is not so well known. It is the flag of the short-lived Republic of the Rio Grande. Laredo was the capital of this republic. Although this organization only lasted from early 1839 until the late summer of 1840, its capital building still stands. A lot of us take for granted this aspect of Laredo, the historic one.
             More in the present, Laredo has become the second fastest growing city in USA and continues to grow. The city offers economic opportunities to many people. Citizens, as well as illegal aliens entering Laredo by way of Mexico. Laredo has been the home of dozens of new restaurants and retail stores in the past 10 years offering jobs and opportunities to young laredoans.
