Money and Huck Finn

Money is a very important subject to any adult in our society. It seems that our life is a journey for money. Most of the times though this mentality applies to adults, but not children. There is rarely a child that would refuse to buy candy for himself just because his family have money problems. Huckleberry fin on the other hand cares about money as any adult would. At one point in the story he got some money from two slave hunters. It was a decent amount of money and he could be easily spending it on food and entertainment. Instead he saves his money and don't even wants to waist money on circus. Fourteen years old is an age where circuses seem godly and mysterious. Huck never the less refuses to pay money for the entrance to the circus, "I ain't opposed to spending money on circuses when there ain't no other way, but there ain't no use in wasting it on them." Any child at his age would be more then glad to spend insignificant price for a ticket especially when you have 20 gold pieces. Huck doesn't pay on other hand instead he sneaks in. A poor drunk that probably had little money raised him. He learned to value money and treat them as seriously as any adult. He wants to save money just in case, "had my twenty-dollar gold piece and some other money, but I reckoned I better save it, because there ain't no telling how soon you are going to need it, away from home and amongst strangers that way." His mentality is much more mature then any child his age. Huck saved his twenty gold pieces and other money that he is able to get his hands on. He could have rightfully taken the money and used them for his own purposes, but instead he gave then to Jim. Even though Huck is careful about the money he is not greedy. He is responsible individual and is used of surviving on his own. Money is a very important subject to him as it would be to the most of adults, but he is not greedy and can spend give up money for a good cause.
